Carey Gauzens, LCSW, CP is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW-Virginia) and a Nationally Certified Practitioner of Psychodrama and group psychotherapy (CP-National). Carey received her Masters degree in Social Work from The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC in 1990 and has more than 25 years experience in the counseling field. She has had extensive postgraduate training in the areas of experiential therapy, grief and loss counseling, dealing with chronic and terminal illness, and working with those facing life transitions.
Carey specializes in working with adolescent and adult survivors of all types of abuse, those dealing with other forms of trauma, individuals facing chronic or terminal illness, victims of sexual assault, those grieving a loss, and individuals facing life transitions of all kinds. Carey works with individuals across the lifespan, from adolescents to senior adults, around issues such as: Family conflicts, adolescent behavior & mood issues, young adults adjusting to college/leaving home, and people of all ages dealing with issues of trauma, chronic or terminal illness, relationship conflicts, grief and loss, career issues, post traumatic stress, anxiety and depression.
Carey’s focus on assisting others with life transitions extends from adolescents grappling with their own identity issues to senior adults facing issues such as retirement and changes in health. In her counseling, Carey brings an interactive approach, a sense of humor and a deep reverence for the human spirit and the spirit of God in us all.
