KRISTEN BENSON, MSW, LMSW

Supervisee in Social Work

Kristen Benson is one of CPC’s newest additions.  She earned her Master of Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania in 2020, graduating as a Stephen A. Cohen Veteran’s Network Scholar, with a specialization in military and veteran behavioral health.  She is currently working on a Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) certification through the Beck Institute and a Masters of Business Administration from John’s Hopkins University.

Before switching to social work, she was a Navy Corpsman, and worked in uniformed medicine for almost ten years, with experience in traumatic brain injury, research, and general clinical care.

She has skills in goal setting, basic CBT, and basic mindfulness practices.  She operates under the core Social Work principles of dignity and worth of all people, and a commitment to advocacy and empowerment.  She believes in real attainable goals for a happier, more fulfilling life, and believes in the power of a comfortable silence when needed.

Her primary interests include: groups, those with mood challenges such as anxiety and depression, those who would like to improve their quality of life or make lifestyle changes, and all Uniformed Service Members, Veterans, and first responders.

I do not ask whether the glass is half empty or half full, I ask whether you know that it’s refillable, and what is keeping you from doing so?”
