Rev. Juanita Stokes, LPC, NCC, MARS Approved Supervisor for LPC and LMFT is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia and in Washington, DC, a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and a Seminary trained Ordained Minister. She is also an approved Supervisor for LPC and LMFT. As a Mental Health Therapist & Pastoral Counselor, Juanita takes a holistic approach to counseling addressing mental and spiritual health issues honoring individuality and uniqueness of each client. As a Retired US State Department High Level Manager (GS-15), she has an understanding of workforce issues.

Juanita’s Personal Theory of Choice is the Existential approach to therapy. She believes self-awareness is required in order to live an authentic life. Individuals must be aware of their inner-self, environment, culture, spiritual, and relationship with others. Juanita provides professional services, including clinical assessments adults, adolescents (Middle School and High School aged), couples, and families who present with clinical issues to include Anxiety, Depression, Adjustment, PTSD, Grief and Loss, Behavioral, Spiritual, Substance Abuse, Communication, Anger, and Other Life Issues. Her Therapy techniques include Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavior, Person Centered, and Narrative. As a Prepare-Enrich Facilitator, Juanita uses the strength-based on-line assessment tool in premarital and marital counseling.

Juanita earned a Master of Arts in Mental Health/Pastoral Counseling from Marymount University, Arlington, VA and a Master of Arts in Religious Studies (MARS) with a Concentration in Counseling from Howard University School of Divinity, Washington, DC. Juanita completed Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) through a Chaplain Internship at Washington Hospital Center (MEDSTAR). She is an Ordained Associate Minister in a local Baptist Church. Juanita is a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA), the Association for Spiritual, Ethical, And Religious Values in Counseling (ASERVIC), and the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).
