Anxiety disorders are common and many people may suffer with symptoms of anxiety but not be aware their symptoms come from anxiety. Symptoms of anxiety include: excessive worry, muscle tension, nervousness, obsessing over a particular topic or issue, having anxiety or panic attacks ( which can include shortness of breath, pounding heart, a feeling like one is going to die or lose control) or struggling with a fear of being around others (social anxiety symptoms) or leaving their homes (agoraphobia). Some people may experience anxiety only about a specific topic (speaking in public, driving over bridges) while others may experience severe feelings of anxiety much of the day nearly every day. There are counseling approaches and medications which have been found to be very effective in addressing anxiety symptoms. All CPC Counselors work with clients experiencing anxiety.
